Best Ways to Spring into Action in Sobriety

Apr 19, 2018 | Sobriety, Treatment

Now that the cold has cleared, and April showers have brought May flowers, it is the season to stop and smell the roses. The winter months are known to keep people isolated to prevent having to deal with inclement weather. Since the sun is shining, and the birds are chirping, the time has come to spring into action in sobriety.

Boost your self-esteem

Confidence may be the one thing that is holding you back from getting into action. If you are constantly in fear of failure, your efforts will be lacking due to your ego. Do things that will help your morale. Meditating, praying, going to meetings, and reaching out to others are all things that promote a healthy self-esteem.

Do something that you have never done

Adding to your repertoire of things that you have not experienced will help you to broaden your horizons. Doing something new can bring some much needed, sober excitement to your life. Whether it is expanding on step work, running a 5K, or going skydiving, sobriety can help you to enlarge the scope of your ambition.

Get a partner

Taking action is always better with the company of others. There is nothing like encouragement to hearten people into accomplishing great things. Read the Big Book together or speak on a panel that reaches out to people in jails and hospitals. Whatever you can do to inspire each other to grow in recovery will be a huge accomplishment.

Try for the daily

Doing something for yourself everyday that positively affects your recovery will help you keep a good attitude. By implementing esteemable acts to your daily routine, you will realize that the feelings of hopelessness and unworthiness were in vain. Carrying out affirmations, will take those negative feelings away to be replaced with real assurance.

Have a plan

With a strategy in place, you will less likely to talk yourself out of what you are planning to do. Knowing what needs to take place rather than guessing what should be done, can make a difference in your perseverance. A plan of action has been proven to keep you on track rather than flying by the seat of your pants. Articulate your plan and then stick to it. Your results should be phenomenal.

Springing into action is about tackling your personal resolution to stay committed to positive activity. By keeping your goals attainable, you can measure your ability to stay into actions that are beneficial in helping you stay sober.
