With a proven comprehensive program in place, you can rest assured your detox experience will be safe, effective and as comfortable as possible.
TAKING THE FIRST STEP
While detox is not a sufficient addiction treatment on its own, it is an essential first step on the road to long-term recovery and sobriety. Unfortunately, fears about the detox process often deter individuals from pursuing any treatment, to avoid that necessary step. At Serenity Oaks Wellness Center, we understand the anxiety and trepidation that often surrounds the detox process. We support all our clients throughout detox medically, emotionally and physically to ensure it is safe and as comfortable as possible.
In addition to the discomfort associated with detox, the medical needs of a patient can be considerably different, depending on the type and amount of substance in the system. Variations in needs can be just one reason why detoxing at home can be both painful and dangerous. When you experience the process in a supervised setting, you can rest assured your needs will be met as they arise by professionals that understand the various aspect of detoxification and are equipped to guide you through the process.
WHAT IS DETOX?
In its simplest sense, detoxification involves the elimination of drugs or alcohol from the body. However, the progression is anything but simple in most cases. As the toxins are exiting the body, there can be severe withdrawal symptoms that can be physically uncomfortable and emotionally taxing. In extreme cases, withdrawal symptoms can become life-threatening if they are not properly managed.
Multiple steps must be involved in a successful detox procedure. First, the patient may require medical supervision to monitor their physical well-being and psychological state throughout the first few days. Our team includes medical doctors and nurses to ensure this initial of portion proceeds as smoothly as possible.
Once the initial stage of detox is completed, the focus shifts from the medical to the psychological aspects of detox and addiction. This step may include gaining support from others preparing for the treatment process as well as friends and family members. Holistic approaches, such as yoga, meditation, nutrition and fitness may be included in this phase of detox. The goal at this stage is to prepare you for treatment and the long-term recovery that lies ahead.
BENEFITS OF A RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM
You may choose between outpatient or inpatient (residential) treatment programs. An outpatient detox is usually an option for individuals with a recent or less severe addiction. The program is conducted during the day, and you can return home in the evenings to fulfill family obligations.
Inpatient detox requires the individual to live at the facility during the detox process. The days spent in our treatment program are structured to give clients ample time to explore the issues that led up to their addiction and learn new habits that will restore the mind and body to a higher level of health and wellness.
Allows for closer monitoring, particularly during the early days of detox
